Painting A Festive Poinsettia
Come and join Laure to learn to paint this fabulously festive plant!
It seems poinsettias have been synonymous with the holidays since the early 1900's and because they are so iconic in shape, they're perfect for an artist to play with colors, shapes and sizes. There's even room to explore a host of textures.
This class will cover several different styles of poinsettias with lots of ideas on how you can create your very own style of poinsettia.
First, we will discuss how to best draw the plant on the paper, how many details to include and which decisions need to be made before we ever start to paint.
Next up, are two video demos on how to paint the leaves and create dramatic veining.
We'll then tackle lettering and use a very simple style (seen above) and how to jazz it up a bit.
After we finish our art, I've give you some ideas for ways to share it including making a greeting card with a special cut to show off our poinsettias to their full beauty.
Come and join the fun!
Please note: This class is also offered as part of the 'Tis The Season Year-Long Holiday Class as well as the First Bundle - 'Tis The Season Holiday class!

Laure Ferlita is an accomplished watercolorist residing in sunny Florida. Watercolors, nature, travel, painting on location, sketching for the joy of it, and most especially, color, are her passions!
Vibrant color can be found in almost any subject and its shadows. It is her joy to bring those colors to life on paper with some paint and a little water. For many years, Laure worked as a graphic designer, so you will most likely see a strong graphic element in her work.
She started sharing her joy and love of sketching on location over at ImaginaryTrips.com in 2009 and has helped many "travelers" to find their artistic voice since then.
“Watercolor, for me, is the perfect sketching medium." Laure says. “It provides ease of use, quick color saturation, and clean up is a snap and really, you don't need much equipment. After you move past the hype of how difficult watercolor can be, you find out how much fun it is to get out there and actually create on location. It's way too much fun!"
